James Lieb is an experienced trial lawyer and litigator in a variety of areas in state and federal courts. His practice includes immigration law, family law, divorce, and child custody. He is known for representing clients with great heart, strategy, and tenacity. He has also been interviewed by the media about matters relating to his practice (see Filings holding steady for 2015).
James helps clients solve legal problems in their personal lives and with their businesses. He does so passionately, with the dedication toward getting the best outcome possible.
James appreciates the significance that the outcome will have on a client’s life, particularly in matters concerning divorce and parenting time (child custody), immigration, and lawsuits. These and many other complex matters involve a careful analysis of the law, experience in constructing the legal options that may be available, and explaining the merits of each option so that a client will be able to make a fully-informed decision as to how to proceed. Once a client has chosen a path for going forward, James is relentless is seeking to achieve the best outcome possible.
In business matters, James’ focus is on protecting assets and working with clients towards achieving business objectives. James helps business owners and managers through all aspects of the business life cycle, including business formation, contract drafting and review, counsel on a variety of business matters, litigation counsel in the event of a lawsuit, and buying and selling businesses.

James, born the youngest of three, grew up Indianapolis, was a Boy Scout earning the rank of Eagle Scout, and graduated from Cardinal Ritter High School. From there he went on to earn his Bachelor of Arts degree at Saint Joseph’s College and his Juris Doctorate law degree at Loyola University, both on academic scholarships. Prior to opening his own law office, James honed his legal skills by working for and learning from great mentors at the Loyola Law Clinic Immigration Section, the Morgan County Prosecutor’s Office, and the Law Office of Wernle, Ristine & Ayers. James is married, has two children, and lives in Bargersville, Indiana.
